Game Day: What Should I Do The Week Of Finals?

A game plan for finals week will make all the difference.

1) Do Things For Your Health.

On the day before your final, get some exercise and some fresh air before the exam. This is a good way to check in with yourself, get a clear head, and find your confidence in a setting where you don’t have to think about rules and elements. After your exam, similarly take a little time to decompress, either by walking or running outside, hitting the gym, yoga, or whatever else you like to do for your health. This is a great way to gear yourself up for the next final exam before diving back into studying.

2) Take a Break.

As you scramble to make sure you know the law inside and out, it’s important to give yourself some breaks. You’ve put in a lot of hours thus far and you don’t want to burn out in the last few days because you try to pull all-nighters the week of finals. Try putting on some music that pumps you up so when you head back to studying, you feel re-energized. Or do something that calms you and gets your mind of off things for a moment. These little breaks are vital to making it to the finish line.

3) Move On.

After an exam is over, clear your head of it. You’ve done a lot of work to get you to to and through your final and now it’s out of your hands. Don't waste time going over what's already been done; focus on what you have control over. This is not always the easiest thing to do, but it's important to move on so you can focus and put all energy into your next exam. You've worked so hard and now it's your opportunity to give it your all. Don’t let another exam get in the away of that.

4) Attack The Day.

Have a plan of attack for each day. It can be tempting to sleep in on a day you don't have a final or get out of certain habits that were serving you well before. Even though it's almost the end, don't let up. Think about what you want to do each day: where and how you're going to prepare for your next exam, what breaks you’ll take, what healthy activity you’ll do. Don't fall out of your habits that have gotten you to this point. Stay vigilant.

Believe in yourself, you got this.
